“But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.” (Micah 7:7)
The prophet, Micah was living in a godless land. He was not able to find a godly person. Does this sound familiar? The officials were corrupt, neighbors could not be trusted, and families were falling apart. I think we could surmise that Micah was in a desperate, lonely state.
It can be difficult and trying to be the only Christian in your family, your marriage, classroom, athletic team or your work place. So, what will you do in your desperation? Like most situations, you will have a choice to make. Behind door number one, you could judge and choose an attitude of self-righteousness toward those around you. This behavior generally causes people to live a life of anger and misery. Behind door number two, you could give in to the godlessness. But this choice leads to destruction. Neither of these choices are life giving and certainly not God honoring. There is still another choice. Behind door number three, you can choose God and His faithfulness.
I have heard it said that desperate people take desperate measures. As believers, we should be desperate for God Himself. In our times of difficulty, we should press deeper into Him and his faithfulness. What will your choice be in times of desperation? Will you choose to wait and watch for God your Savior? Because He will hear you!
