“And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20
When you’re in a season of navigating tough times, it’s very common to experience a deep sense of loneliness. You feel as if you’re the only person going through whatever it is you’re going through. You begin to isolate yourself, and you believe the lie that you are going to have to walk through this season alone.
But as followers of Christ, we can have hope in the fact that we are never alone, regardless of the difficulties we’re facing. Paul reassures us of this truth in Romans 8:38 when he says, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
That means no hardship, no persecution, no diagnosis, no broken relationship, and no mistake has the power to isolate us from our Heavenly Father. “[He] will be with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
I know it can be easy to believe our feelings rather than believe God, especially when we feel alone. Sometimes it seems like our feelings are screaming so loud that they drown out the truth completely. But it’s in times like these, when we feel alone and isolated, that we must cling to the promise that God will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6, Hebrews 13:5). Through every high and every low, He is our only constant.
If today you feel like you’re alone, I would encourage you to ask God to remind you of His presence. Ask Him to give you faith to believe His promise to never leave you. Ask Him to help you remember that absolutely nothing can separate you from His love, and thank Him that no matter what difficult season you’re navigating, He will always be right there with you.
