“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
Zephaniah’s prophecy rings true for each of us. As he spoke concerning the restoration of Israel’s remnant, and especially to Jerusalem, about what the Lord would do for them, we too can celebrate this for us. Just examine these phrases today:
“The Lord your God is with you.” The personal relationship we have with Jesus is to always be upon our hearts and minds. He is with you! Never forget that!
“The Mighty Warrior who saves.” There is no one like the Lord, the greatest of all. Sometimes we just need to be reminded He is a Mighty Warrior who does battle on our behalf. You are not alone.
“He will take great delight in you.” Jesus not only loves you, He enjoys you. Oh, that you could see His smile as He thinks about you!
“In his love he will no longer rebuke you.” Yes, there is a time for rebuke. We all need that, but there is also His tenderness toward us, His love which flows like a mighty river and brings healing. Just what you needed at the right time…He loves you.
“But will rejoice over you with singing.” What an amazing phrase! The Lord rejoices…and with singing…over us! Capture that picture in your mind and you will never be the same.
You see, we have the blessing of God all over us. Why would we ever perform for the applause of another person? Why would we ever be tempted to see our worth and value through the eyes of anyone else? To live longing for the acceptance of a fellow human being sets one up to be manipulated and controlled. God never intended for us to live that way.
“Oh Lord, Thank You for loving me, enjoying me and actually singing over me! Empower me to live today with the freedom that this brings…beginning right now!”
