What a Doxology!

“To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy — to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” (Jude 1:24-25)

I love the old story of the little boy who was heard singing the “doxology” in church, but somehow got his words a bit tangled. He sang, “Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him, all creatures ‘here we go!” There’s something very powerful in his changed lyrics. While honoring the Lord, our lives should be put in the “drive” mode to move forward with great joy and praise. Our focus must remain on the King of Kings.

Jude’s ending words should be our beginning words for daily living. We are to focus our minds on Him for He alone has all power and authority. Jude spells it out clearly. We are to honor the Lord because He is the only One who can keep us from stumbling. We are to honor the Lord because He is the only One who presents us before His presence without any fault…and great joy. He is the only One who is completely in charge. What a doxology!

If we begin each day with this kind of spiritual sightline, we will be in a good place. It is here, where we learn and live, that our entire life is in His hands, both in the present and the future. He has “our back!” He is our foundation! He is our future! So, what should our response be? I choose to sing the new lyrics today to the Doxology…“here we go!” Join in and sing it!
