“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20-21
God is not a god of mediocrity. He is not a god of solely meeting expectations. He is a God that is more than capable of exceeding expectations. Let’s once again look at the thief on the cross next to Jesus as an example. After he rebuked the other criminal on the cross for mocking Jesus, the thief looked at Jesus and said, “Remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Luke 23:42). He didn’t ask Jesus to save him. He didn’t ask to go to heaven. He just asked if the Lord would remember him.
And what did Jesus do? He did more than the thief ever expected or asked for. He responded and said, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). This is such a beautiful picture of how the Lord desires to work in our lives.
When I gave my life to Christ when I was 12-years-old, I had no idea what He would have in store for me. I had no clue what He would do in my life and through my life in spite of me. But He knew all along. And I can say now, many years later, that God has given me more than I ever asked for or imagined.
God wants to do immeasurably more in your life, too. He wants to give you the kind of life and the quality of life only He can produce. I can promise you that if you will seek Him and stay focused on Him, He will do amazing things in and through you things you won’t even believe. I pray that you cling to that promise in Ephesians 3:20, and that you begin to ask your Heavenly Father to go above and beyond anything you ask for or imagine as you continue to talk with Him.
