“Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee…” (John 21:1)
Multiple times following His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples. However, this time would be different, especially for Simon Peter. Remember, up until this time, the last thing Simon Peter had done was to deny Jesus three different times. Broken hearted, he had repented privately, but had not had a personal conversation with Jesus until this moment.
There’s much to observe in Chapter 21, but one of the things which sticks out in my mind was the absence of Jesus bringing Simon Peter’s denial up to him. I believe Simon jumped out of the boat to get to Jesus on the shore because of the unfinished business he probably felt he had with the Lord. But again, Jesus does not bring it up. What could be the reason?
Simon had already repented. When he had done that with God, the Father, it was the same as doing it with Christ. You see, God, the Father is one with God, the Son and God, the Spirit. Once we repent of sin, regardless of what it was or how deep the pain it caused, God forgives us and remembers it no more. So, do you have any unfinished business with the Lord today? Service in the Kingdom is wonderful but living in the flow of fellowship is everything. Leave no sin unconfessed!
