Just You Wait

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.” (Romans 8:18-19)

Paul knew all about suffering. Just follow his life through his writings and the accounts of his journeys in the book of Acts, and you will see a man who knew what it felt like to be misunderstood and maligned. Beaten up both physically and mentally, he didn’t stop preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, after surviving a stoning, he went back into the same town. What a guy!

How could he live like that? Easier said than done, but one thing is for sure: he lived today with eternity in his mind. Instead of focusing upon the “poor me’s” which in all honesty one could justify, he lived his life for the future. Wanting to count for the kingdom drove him forward and upward. It was all about Jesus…at all times. In fact, he wrote that he wouldn’t even travel down a path of comparison of what he had to endure compared with what was to come in eternity. He wouldn’t go there. May the Lord help us to see things that way, beginning right now.

So, what’s keeping you from living like Paul today? Keeping your eyes on others and what they have financially will trip you up. Allowing your mind to dwell upon what you don’t have as compared to what you do have will take you on a journey where the Lord never purchased you a ticket. If you are on that train, get off quickly. Choose right now to live in this moment with all obedience to Christ. The world can’t wait to see what God will do both within you and others as you live so surrendered.
