God’s Three Tasks

Be ready in the morning, and then come up on Mount Sinai. Present yourself to me there on top of the mountain.(Exodus 34:2)

Every follower of Jesus wants to be His disciple, but we often feel we lack the talent or the knowledge to be useful to Him.  What can we do?  Moses provides an answer.

God gave the Ten Commandments on stone tablets, but in anger Moses crushed them.  He needed a do-over.  God told Moses, Be ready in the morning…”  Moses must accomplish three tasks before he could serve God.

First, Be Ready.   The person God uses must be ready to serve Him.  That means to have clean hands and a pure heart.(Psalm 24:4)  It means to confess your sin and remove any hindrances to serving Jesus.  Here is His promise: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.(1 John 1:9)  Get yourself ready for the Lord to use you.

Second, Come Up. The Master invites us to get close to Him.  He bids us Come and dine.(John 21:12)  Jesus says, I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.(John 15:5)  Moses was invited to a closer fellowship with God.  So are we.

Third, Present Yourself.  Offer yourself to be used in whatever capacity the Master chooses.  Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship.(Romans 12:1)

Being a good servant of the Lord doesn’t take a lot of talent, but it does take some preparation.  Learn from Mosesexample.  Be ready. Come up.  Present yourself.
