One Way

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14

Because there are so many different religions and beliefs systems around the world, there is a misconception that there are a variety of ways for someone to go to heaven. But as followers of Jesus, we must understand that the only way to experience eternal life is through Christ.

Jesus Himself said to His disciples, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). He is theway. Not away, not oneway, but theway.

Recently, one of the men in our church called me and asked me to visit his mother who was in the final stages of her life. She was 94 years old, and her mind was still sharp as a tack. Once I arrived at the hospital to see her, I sat down and began to share the gospel with her. I asked her point blank, “Has there every been a moment in your life where you’ve turned from sin and placed your faith in Christ?”

She looked at me and said, “No, I don’t believe I have.” When I asked her if she would like to, she said, “Oh, yes!” So I had the privilege of praying with this 94-year-old woman as she gave her life to Christ.

Maybe you are like this woman and you’ve never taken the step to turn from your sin and follow Christ. Maybe you’ve believed about God. Maybe you love God and you love Jesus. But have you ever given your life to Christ and committed everything you are to Him? If not, it’s never too late to make that decision.

You and I are only promised today. So if you have never turned from your sin and placed your faith in Jesus, I pray that today would be today, that this moment would be the moment, where you’re willing to surrender your life to Him. If you’re wanting to make that decision right now, I would encourage you to begin with this prayer.

“Jesus, I need you. I’m not going to trust religion. I’m not going to trust philosophy. I’m going to trust you. I’m going to turn from my sin, and I’m going to place all of my faith in you Jesus, and your finished work for me on the cross.”
