“Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you…” (Colossians 2:18)
We are so easily distracted from the main thing. Have you noticed how quickly you can lose focus? If you are not careful, it is almost a given that on any day, you can find yourself navigating down a dirt road in the boonies, when you had previous plans to stay on the Interstate. Unfortunately, it’s our focus on other people and their pseudo-spiritual ways, that can often grab the steering wheel of our cars and force us to travel less desirable roads.
Remember, you cannot control other people today…only yourself and your heart focus. Choose to resist the whirling vortex of those who are more consumed with the appearance of following Christ, rather than Christ Himself. Follow their cyclonic activity long enough and you will become a distraction yourself.
So, where are you to go when the newest spiritual fad seems to be sucking the oxygen out of the room? Back to your prayer closet is the appropriate answer. Other people and their activity are not to become your obsession. Your choice this day must become Christ-centered, not people-centered. Don’t you realize your productivity on this planet is always more effective when your thoughts remain fixed upon the Author and Finisher of our faith…Jesus?
Watch out for the blowhards!
