I Am Living Securely

“To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy — to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” (Jude 1:24-25)

Do you ever have feelings of insecurity? Like Velcro, they often stick to us for decades, if not a lifetime, unless resolved and sorted out from the inside out. Where did those feelings come from? Surely, not God! Maybe feelings of abandonment from childhood, due to an absent parent have attached themselves to your tender heart. Possibly they took root deeply within when a spoken word of damage found its way to the very core of your being. Sometimes, a catastrophic event produces a statement about us, which is nothing but a lie we have chosen to believe. Regardless of what has produced it, that feeling of insecurity can wreck us spiritually.

Slipping into our theology, those feelings of insecurity even cause us to believe things about God which are not accurate. What’s up with that? We can get so upside down and spiral out of God’s peace for us. When this attitude consumes us, it sets us up to be manipulated by false doctrine which focuses upon fleshly performance, rather than the finished work of Christ on our behalf. What’s a person to do? First, we may just need to acknowledge our struggle and begin to dig out the tumor of deception. Often a godly friend or Christian counselor is the Great Physician’s prescription for us. Talking it out is not enough, though.

Second, we need to be grounded in the Word. The passage today speaks of our security which the Lord has provided for us. Read it until you are convinced of it and are able to bask in its power.

Our security is found in Christ alone, who completely secures our stability spiritually for all eternity, but also is responsible for our ability to stand without slipping. Wow, just wow! This is a great place to say, “Thank you, Lord!” It is really about Him…from start to finish. No wonder He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End! That also means He has your in-between, too. So, celebrate and say, “I am living securely!”
