“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Matthew 24:36)
While Jesus was on earth, He promised His people that He was going to return one day. Jesus talked about this second coming during one of His many conversations with His disciples. He said, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” In other words, even Jesus doesn’t know when He will come back to earth. He is still waiting for His Father’s command to do so.
After Jesus had ascended into heaven, Paul wrote a description of how the second coming will take place. He said, For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
If you are a follower of Jesus, He is coming back for you, and you will be with Him forever. However, if you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will not rise with the rest of His followers when He returns.
If you want to spend eternity in heaven with Jesus, you must make the decision to surrender your life to Him and become a follower of Christ.
Scripture makes it very clear that no one knows the day or time Jesus is actually going to return; however, we do know that we are getting closer to His coming back. Even though we don’t know the exact day, we should be prepared for His return. The best way to prepare for the second coming is to make the decision to follow Jesus. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I pray that you would place your faith in Him today.
