For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!(Psalm 27:14)
When praying and asking God for something, many of us pray with the mentality that we want God to align with our schedule, rather than asking God to align us with His schedule. This is where we run into trouble; when we think God should answer our prayers right now, today, at this moment. Sometimes, God does answer our prayers the way we want Him to, but those prayers may take much longer to get answered than we would like.
You will not force God to abide by your schedule; anyone who teaches that does not have an understanding of how God operates. God does not submit to our plans and our timetable. We should have an attitude and a heart posture of submission toward His plans and His timetable, if we want to obediently follow Him.
When you pray in the name of Jesus, do you know what that means? It means we are praying and aligning ourselves with what He would pray; His purpose, His plan, and His person. Praying in the name of Jesus does not give you a blank check to ask God for anything and everything. God is not required to give it to you just because you use the magic words, “Open Sesame,” “in Jesus’ name.” That is not how this works. The purpose of prayer is to align you with God and what He is planning to do. When we pray in the name of Jesus, it means we are willing to submit to God’s will and God’s timing.
