“From this day on I will bless you.” (Haggai 2:19)

I remember the day I received my high school diploma. Graduating from high school was definitely a memorable day, with all my friends. I had obtained the first diploma, which allowed me the privilege to pursue another…and I did. Finally the day came, after four more years (well, to be more precise, three years and nine months), I completed my college studies and received an undergraduate degree. This was another notch in my academic belt.

Sensing a call to ministry, I headed to seminary and began a theological path of study which would forever change my life. After several more years, I received a Master’s degree and then finally earned a Doctorate. I remember each of those days, and each of those ceremonies, where I put on a different robe, marched down a different aisle and walked across another stage to receive a new diploma. After receiving each degree, the following days felt like a brand new beginning.

The same is true for us as children of God. There was a time when you did not know Christ. Dead in sin and an object of God’s wrath, you were remarkably forgiven when you repented and committed your life to Christ. Now, as a follower of Jesus Christ, you began a new day, with a new beginning. Once lost, you are now saved. Once without a clue, your eyes are now open. Formerly blind to what God was doing in the world, you are now quite aware of His plan for humanity and you want to assist in bringing about His Kingdom on earth. Most of all, you stand in the place of blessing.

The place of blessing is more than a birthday party where you receive gifts from those who attend your celebration. The place of blessing carries with it the Hand of God upon you for purpose and action. He desires that you represent Him to a world that desperately needs to acknowledge Him and bow before Him. This is a new day the Lord has given you to not only receive His blessings, but also to pass them along to others. Remember this day as one unlike any day you have ever experienced. Live and love with His power and anointing on your life from this day forward!

I love this posting because it reminds me when I went back to college at the ripe old age of 47 years old to receive my bachelors degree. I had already received my AA degree from Junior College at the age of 22, and I always knew that I wanted to go back to school some day to receive my ( 4 year) bachelors degree.

My problem through the years between the age of 22 to 47 was that I had to work hard to obtain a living–I did not have any support from my family. Actually, upon graduating from high school, I did not have a whole lot of support from my family. I always kept my dream alive about attending college and receiving an undergraduate degree.

My mother and father had already passed away, but I know that they were looking down from heaven to witness this great day in my life. Other than that, I had no friends or family that came to witness my graduating from college. As I walked along the stage, there were professors and others that whispered to me how proud they were of me. That whisper was the best feeling I had ever received in my life other than the Holy Spirit that whispered in my ears the day that I received God as my Lord and Savior.

This is a blessing, a testimony, and a great experience that I’ll never forget as long as I live.
