18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

That is very clear! The purpose and mission of every believer is to make disciples. The scope of this task is nothing short of worldwide. Because the responsibility is on all of us, these are our walking orders from the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

We have gone through a season in local churches when many have studied and researched how to best describe their mission. They have crafted statements to capture the hearts of their membership in order to communicate who they are and what they are. Such efforts are wonderful, but here in this passage, it is quite clear: You have been commissioned!

We don’t need a new pithy saying to tell the world about our focus. Instead, we just need to do what Jesus said, and do what He commissioned us to do. Make the effort today to talk to someone about Christ. Go to those places which desperately need your witness and talk to people who need to hear that their sins can be completely forgiven. We are commanded to go and share. Jesus, who has all the authority in this world and the next, has sent you with the promise that He is with you. Now…Go!
