If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

Have you ever committed a sin that caused you to be overwhelmed with guilt and shame? Have you carried the burden of your mistakes by yourself for quite a while? Have you ever said, “There is no way God could ever look past this sin? It’s just too big.”

If any of those statements are true for you, let me encourage you. God is so much bigger and greater than all of your sins and mistakes. There is nothing you could ever say or do that would put you out of reach of His forgiveness.

Think about some of the most well-known Biblical figures. Moses murdered an Egyptian. David slept with another man’s wife and then had that man killed. Paul (formerly known as Saul) persecuted and killed countless Christians before he was converted. These men carried out some of the most heinous crimes known to man, and yet God still forgave them.

Not only did God forgive them, but He used them to accomplish incredible work for His Glory and His Kingdom. He can do the same in your life, as well. No sin is too big for God to forgive; and no sin is too big to disqualify you from being used by God. The Lord wants to forgive you. He wants to use you. He wants to redeem your life so that you can be a shining example of how God can take something terrible and turn it into something remarkable.

Don’t live another day overwhelmed by the guilt and shame of your sin. Instead, ask the Lord to forgive you for what you have done. Repent and turn away from your wrongdoing and begin to follow the Lord’s leading in your life. When you do, you will be amazed at the redemptive work God will accomplish in you.

It took me a period of time to realize God had forgiven my sin. I felt the sin was unforgivable. To many people( believers and non believers) it is unforgivable.
Even though I realize Gods forgiveness I have continued to live with guilt and shame for several years. I feel unworthy and the guilt and shame still are barriers to living the life I want and God wants me to live. Im a believer and love God but can’t shake the guilt and shame.
    Why is this?

I hope and pray you come to recognize the depth of the Love of Christ Phil. I lived 21 years in hiding, not attending church services because I was sure everyone saw my sins. Do not go that long or get that isolated. Put God’s Word in your heart and recognize His Voice when He Speaks to you. Then every time another rouge thought or “bad” circumstance arises, just say “Jesus” or “the Lord rebuke you” to what ever evil confronts you. Consider James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Myself, I struggle when those closest to me attack. I am still learning to speak blessings into each situation and do my best to not accuse or condemn anyone, yet forgive them. I try to remember, if I cannot speak God’s truth in love, then I just need to be silent.
Always Remember, Christ died for our sins past, present, and future. He doesn’t ask us to be perfect. (Although He gave us the perfect example in Christ) LORD God Almighty just wants to be #1 in our hearts and minds. Let nothing get between you and the Lord. That means guilt and shame also. Try listening to Christian Music and you will start to file away a song that will help remind you of God’s “Agape” Love when you come under attack. Be God’s!
