But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Words of blessing are like a cold drink of water to the one who has parched lips. Compliments and encouragement are always welcomed by the hungry heart. It is also true…”words are cheap!” We have heard complimentary words from people who want to get on our good side. We receive easily but we still wonder, “What do they really think of me?” On the other hand, when it comes to what God thinks about us, it is a completely different thing. He has not only spoken words of love, but He has also backed it up with actions.

What has He done? Get beyond the reality that He created this planet for us and set the world in order to protect us. Move quickly past the social order and family connections of love we long to keep intact at all costs. Move quickly to the greatest truth we could ever embrace…Jesus died for us! Make it personal right now: Jesus died for me!

What a marvelous truth we often take for granted, especially if we grew up in a Christian home. It almost sounds like yesterday’s news. Yes, it is. It’s news from yesteryear, some two thousand years ago, but it still has present and eternal consequences.

God’s demonstrated love is amazing! It defies our ability to completely comprehend it; it is so far outside our understanding. Just think about it for a moment. Even before we were ever born, the Lord set in motion a plan to prove without a shadow of doubt just how encompassing His love was for us. In our rebellious and sinful, self-absorbed posture, Christ died for us. We weren’t even asking for it, but He knew that we desperately needed what only He could provide. Forgiveness was impossible apart from the perfect, shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Living Proof of God’s love for us.

A fleshly human being could turn their back on you. Quite possibly, someone who is biologically connected to you might even terminate their relationship with you. Sometimes, we allow deep friendships to slip through our hands, out of convenience or offense. The human race is known for its fragile relationships and abusive treatment of one another. This is not so with Jesus! He loves you. He loves me. He proved it on Calvary’s cross. Yell it out right now, “I am loved, really loved!” Now, choose to live as His living proof of His powerful love today.

One of my favorite verses and the song too-When we were Sinners Jesus came-He died for us. The real encouragement though is that HE is a risen Lord that still loves us-He loves me even though I am filled with flaws.

Today’s message rather tippy toed around the crisis in our country and the world today, which I find very disheartening as well as alarming. It puzzles me that so many of influence in monetary means, as well as a public platform, can say they are Christian when they are following the leadership and listening to the voices of those who are promotiing a life style whch eliminates God in their lives. I’ve never known a Communist who was Christian in what they say or do. They are totally opposite. Yet, your last paragraph reminds us, although we have been ostrasized and belittled for our beliefs in God and His son, Jesus Christ, we have to be ever cognicent that God loves them too. This is truly a test of our faith that in the end God will prevail and they, too, will recognize Him and His love for them. As I recall in part, Jesus said that those who lie will not tarry in His sight. Yet, they monopol;ize and censor all news telling the truth. This is truly a testng time for us – the Christians to keep the faith in justice , honesty and God’s love for us all to prevail.
