“My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me. I brought you up out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. I sent Moses to lead you, also Aaron and Miriam. My people, remember what Balak king of Moab plotted and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.” (Micah 6:3-5)
It is very easy to forget what God has done for us. When God comes through for us, we are excited, grateful, and relieved (at the moment). As more time passes, we move on to the next thing we want or are waiting for; and we quickly forget God’s past faithfulness.
This is exactly what happened with the Israelites in Micah Chapter 6. Because they had forgotten, the Lord had to remind them of all that He had done for them. They were so focused on their current issues and troubles that they didn’t give a second thought to all that God had saved them from in the past.
Have you forgotten what God has done for you? Maybe He restored a broken relationship. Maybe He provided for you financially when you weren’t sure you would be able to pay the bills. Maybe He answered a prayer that you had been asking Him about for years. Whatever the case, we all have stories about God’s faithfulness. Let us not forget these amazing testimonies, as we walk through our current struggles, trials, and seasons of waiting.
God is just as capable of coming through for you now, as He was before. His faithfulness remains unchanged. He is still good and loving. He still knows what is best for you. Don’t forget God’s work in your past. Let your remembrance of His past work enhance your faith today.
