God Can Multiply Your Little

Jesus said,“Have the people sit down.”There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there).Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples,“Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. (John 6:10-13)

One of the many amazing aspects of God’s character is that He can take your little things and multiply them. We learn this about God by reading the account of Jesus feeding the five thousand. (When you count women and children, Jesus fed about 10,000 to 20,000 people!)

Jesus saw that the people were hungry and it was about lunchtime. They were getting really hungry because Jesus had been going a little longer than usual. He told the disciples, “I want you to get them something to eat.” They said, “There is no way we can afford to pay for this.” Then one of the disciples found a little boy who was willing to offer his food.

First of all, that’s a miracle in itself. What child would give up his food (unless it’s asparagus or broccoli)?  This little boy was willing to offer his lunch. Jesus prayed and blessed it; and suddenly there was an abundance of food for everyone! In addition, twelve basketfuls of food were left over!

The way Jesus could take a little sack lunch and use it to feed thousands of people is a pure miracle! It is proof that God can take your little and multiply it. He can take the little you have to offer; and He can use the offering of your time, talents, and treasures for His ultimate glory. Never discount what little you have to offer the Lord. Never discount the little influence you think you have. Never discount the little struggles you are going through that God can use. You have no idea of the ripple effect that can be generated from the investment of your life.

It’s the little things in life that count God can use anything that we do whether big or small to help further the kingdom
