Why You Need A Small Group
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. – Hebrews 13:1
In our culture, we need to understand the importance of letting people into our Hula Hoop. We also need to learn how to jump into the Hula Hoops of other people.
Let me tell you what I mean by that.
The church is more than just a place where you attend, experience worship, music, and teaching, and then go out and live your life. Do you know the reason why people stay in a church? Is it great preaching? Is it wonderful music, light shows, smoke and mirrors, lasers, and multimedia screens? I don’t think so.
Do you know why people stay in a church? It is people! They stay because of their friends!
I believe the best way we connect with others in church is through small groups. If you are not involved in a small group, you probably won’t stay in church. If you are just showing up, sitting on a padded seat, and spending one hour here, you are not finding yourself in harmony and fellowship with other believers.
If you are not connecting with other people, you will likely leave at some point. And that’s not what I want for you. I want you to be connected with other believers. I want you to spend your life together. God wants you to do that, too. God blesses those who are connected.
With this in mind, we need to look for opportunities not only to connect with other people but also to invest in people. Getting into a small group is a great way to do both. Don’t just attend church on Sunday morning; you need to spend life with each other because you need family. They need you and you need them. You might not think you need them now, but you will probably go through some things where you need Jesus with skin on.
Don’t wait another day to get involved in a small group and connect with other believers in Christian community.

That is so true. I found my friends in a small group over 25 years ago. We are still friends. I have since been in another small group for the last 4 years and now have more friends. It is great.
