Crooked Lines to Straight Destinations
"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps." — Proverbs 16:9
Is your life a straight line?
Let me ask a question. How many of you would say, "I gave my life to Christ, and it has been straight up ever since?" I cannot raise my hand. I look at some of the paths that God has allowed me to go, and I don't get it.
You don't have to get it; we just need to trust God.
Rarely is your life a straight line. Many people understand crooked lines better than straight ones. If there is a detour in your life, instead of being angry and upset that God would allow this to happen, open your eyes. Realize that sometimes the journey is not from point A to point B, but rather it is through winding roads.
We want the direct path. We want clear, predictable steps. We want to see the destination from the starting point. But God doesn't typically work that way.
He takes you through valleys you didn't expect. He leads you on detours that make no sense. He allows delays that frustrate you. He closes doors you wanted to walk through. He opens doors you never considered.
Looking back, you can see why. At the time, it felt random or even cruel. But now you can see how that detour taught you something essential. That delay positioned you perfectly. That closed door protected you. That winding road brought you exactly where you needed to be.
God will get you where you need to go. Whether it is physical, financial, or relational, you need to trust that God will use everything in your life for His Glory and your maturity. As you look back on the past, realize that nothing is wasted. Nothing is wasted! Every twist, every turn, every unexpected change—God is using it all.
Stop demanding that God give you a straight path. Stop resenting the winding road. Stop being angry about detours. Trust that God knows the best route to get you where He wants you to be.
The destination is secure. The path might be crooked. But every step is ordered by the Lord. Trust Him. Even when the road winds, He's leading you home.
