This World Is Not Our Home
For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. (Hebrews 13:14)
Right now in our country and on our planet, more things are wrong than right! As a result, this reality creates conflict inside the life of a believer. We want to cry out, “God, how long will you tolerate men and women living with this mentality? How long will you tolerate the treatment that we inflict on each other, to hurt each other, to manipulate each other, and to abuse each other? How long will evil reign?” I don't know about you, but those are my biggest questions.
In the Scriptures, we find the answer very clearly: “Until God makes it right.” God is the only One who can make things right! We need to stop looking to Washington to make things right. They have made more things wrong than right! Although we have a wonderful system of government, we are fallible people who make mistakes. Some of them are willfully wrong, and we need to recognize them as such.
It can be tempting to put all of your hope into human beings, or even into a system that is supposed to serve its people well. Ultimately, we will always be disappointed and left wanting more while we are on this earth, because we were not created for this earth.
Our home is in heaven, where all will be made right by God one day in the future. We can look forward to that day – in fact, we should look forward to that glorious day. Until then, we have to remember that we are just passing through, doing the best we can to be obedient to God in a fallen world. On that day, His work of redemption and sanctification will be complete in us, when we step into eternity in heaven with Him!

yes yes yes , we all are waiting for that time
Amen. I feel it more every day. Can't wait to go HOME! Can't wait to see my Saviors face and fall at His feet in Thanksgiving. This world is not our home.
I am looking forward to the day when Jesus comes to get and take me home.
Yes our home is in heaven and we are just passing through.
I feel like several times in the past year there have been jabs taken at The President in the daily devotionals. Politics need to be left out!!!
nI know it is just the devil controlling his words so I will continue to read them but if it continues I will find another devotional to read.
Dr. Dodd is telling the truth, exactly what is happening today. Amen to his words!
Another thing, Dr. Dodd's words are not controlled by the devil. He is a Godly man whose daily devotionals and Sunday TV programs are inspiring as well as very good teaching. He preaches God's Word in truth.

JUST PASSING THROUGH. AMEN! HALLELUJAH!
It is heartbreaking to see fighting, bickering, lashing out, and SHOUTING at each other over a man you shouldn't trust and a devotional that he wrote using, in part, his own opinion to make points that were important to him. We must remember that the Truth is Jesus; it is not Pastor Dodd. The Truth always prevails.
nPastor Dodd teaches to the best of his ability with what he has to work with—this should be respected. How much better can you teach than him? We are called to obey authority, yet we are reminded not to trust mankind—including pastors.
nI worry that not a single one of you has a relationship deep enough with Christ Jesus to know the Character of God, because you simply do not read your Bible, God’s Living Word. God created us and gave us Life; we are living, breathing creatures on this Earth. Our job is to spread the Good News to glorify God until He calls us Home.
nTo those of you who can't wait to be with Jesus or desire to go to Jesus now—please understand that this is not in God’s Will for you at this time. It is sinful, selfish thinking and not what He wants for you. He wants you to love Him, to glorify Him, and to spread the Good News! This is God’s Word to you—it is written, so it shall be done.
nIf you knew God’s Character and what He wanted for you, you would know that He wants all of us to be saved and to come to know the Knowledge of the Truth. And finally, to all of you to whom this does not make any sense and sounds foolish: you are not of the Spirit. You do not understand because you do not have the Spirit in your heart to understand.
