Spiritual Alignment
Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing, and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)
Andrew Murray said many of us need to understand what prayer is. He said, “Prayer is not so much trying to get God to align with you, but rather it helps you align with where God is going.” This is exactly what needs to happen in our lives.
Don't just come into church, watch a program, or read this devotional and say, “Well, that fixed me up today.” It is an everyday choice. In every moment, say, “God, I want my thinking to align with you. I want my life to align with you. I want my steps to align with you.” When you fall down and admit that your steps are going in the opposite direction, and you turn to Christ; things will change, and peace will come. That is what our world needs. Although you might not be able to change the world, you can change the direction where you are headed. That is a personal choice.
If you have never given your life to Christ, I pray that today would be the day when you would turn from sin and place your faith in Christ. I pray that the light would go on, and God would reveal to you with a spotlight upon your life, how you are standing with Him right now.
If you are a believer, and you have given your life to Christ, what has happened, what has caused you to take a step back? What has caused you to say, “I'm just going to be a casual observer now, rather than be a participant?” What has caused that? I will answer that question for you. It is choosing to see things like the world sees them and living like the world.
Unfortunately, we spend more time with people who influence us to live for ourselves than spending adequate time with the Father alone in our prayer closet. I pray that starting right now, you will make sure that every moment and every desire aligns with Him. If necessary, I hope you will drive your car in for a “spiritual alignment,” so that the journey ahead can be more aligned with Christ’s plan for you. You don’t want to get stuck in a detour chasing your own plans.

Great devotional. You mentioned how our life would change once we have totally committed our life to Crist. I thought I had my life in line however after my wife went to be with the Lord I was devastated. I was standing in the middle of my living room and I prayed: Father take me home, I don't want to le, please4 take me home. The Holy Spirit told me to get my attitude right or this would be the best I would ever be. I said Lord, I am old and I am still here because You are not through with me. The rest of my days are Yours, whatever You have me to do that is what I want to do. My life has changed, every day is a Jesus day. I am 86 and I have it on my bucket list to visit your church, it is a ways away because I live in Florida, the Lord willing I will get there.
AMEN AND PRAISE THE LORD !! I WAS ENCOURAGED BY YOUR WORDS MR. PETERSON. KEEP FIGHTING. WE ARE RUNNING THE RACE AND PURSUING THE PRIZE THAT IS, BEFORE US.WE ARE ONLY PASSING THROUGH. We must remember that and not get caught up. And CONTINUE to be SPIRITUALLY ALIGNED WITH GOD.
I relate so much to both of these responses. I lost my husband 8 weeks ago and it has been and still is devastating to me. We attended Westside for a few years at the very beginning of Dr Dodd’s ministry. We felt so connected. I would love to reconnect once again.
I have people in my life that keep trying to fit me into their box as to how I should be living my life. I will follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as to what I am to be doing.
