Who's Really in Charge?
"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." — Philippians 2:10-11
Is Jesus the Lord of your life, or just a part of your life?
It's easy to say "Jesus is Lord." Go ahead, say it out loud right now. Easy, right? But here's the real question: Do you really believe it? Are you really committed that Jesus is your Lord and boss?
That word "Lord" means ruler. It means one who is in charge. It means every decision you make comes under His authority and His direction.
Here's what you need to understand: Jesus is not Lord because you decide He is Lord. He is Lord because He is Lord. He is very God of very God and very man of very man. He is God incarnate. One day, every Buddhist will declare that Jesus is Lord. Every Muslim will declare that Jesus is Lord. Every atheist, every pagan, every person will bow their knee and declare He is Lord.
Either you declare Him as Lord now and secure your eternal passage to heaven, or if you wait until after you die, it will be too late.
But being a Christian isn't just about securing a ticket to heaven. It's about surrender—right here, right now. It means you literally turn over everything to Him. You give Him total charge of your life. You belong to Him completely without apology.
Any time you make a decision in your life, ask Him: "Lord, what do you want me to do? What do you want me to embrace? Where do you want me to go? I belong to you. Because you are my Lord, I surrender to you."
Is He that kind of Lord to you? Or is this just a mental exercise?
God wants it to change your life. Stay in love with Jesus and surrender to Him as Lord, and He will give you the right "want to's." Psalm 37:4 says, "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." When you fall in love with Christ and listen to Him, He will give you the right desires.
Jesus is Lord. Not just in heaven. Not just on Sundays. Not just when it's convenient. He's Lord of your Monday morning, your difficult relationships, your financial decisions, your career choices, your entertainment, your time.
Surrender everything to Him today. He's already Lord—the question is whether you're living like it.
