The Word Does the Work
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." — Hebrews 4:12
Do you worry that you're not good enough at sharing your faith?
Maybe you think, "I don't know enough theology. I stumble over my words. I'm not persuasive like some people." So you stay silent, convinced that if you can't deliver a polished Gospel presentation, you shouldn't say anything at all.
But here's what you need to understand: It's not about you.
Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 2:13, "When you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe."
The power is not in your persuasion. The power is in the Word of God itself. The Greek word for this power is "Dunamis"—the miraculous power behind dynamite. It's explosive. It's life-changing. And it doesn't depend on your eloquence.
As you share the Gospel and you are aligned with the Word of God, He will use His Word to make a difference. Your life and ministry will change the direction of other people's lives. It's an amazing thing that God would use any of us to do ministry.
Do not worry about the political agenda in our culture or the opposition you might face. Christianity was birthed in the midst of a world power that worshiped an emperor. Nero lit his gardens by crucifying Christians along the road. He set believers on fire when they would not surrender to his lordship. Yet Christianity flourished in the middle of political opposition.
Why? Because the Word of God was at work in the lives of God's people.
When you share the message of Jesus with someone—whether it's your family or your friends—trust that God's Word will continue working in their lives long after you've spoken. You plant the seed. God does the growing. The Word does the work.
