The Front Row Surprise
"But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first." — Matthew 19:30
Who do you think will have the best seats in heaven?
Many of you think that Mother Theresa, Billy Graham, and others will be on the front row in heaven. Maybe they will be, but I will be up in the cheap seats with you guys in the balcony. I will just be glad to be in the building.
But here's what I really believe: The very people who we never saw, the people who gave everything they had, they are the ones who will have the reserved seats.
I heard a story this morning. When the Armenians began to do ministry, some of them decided that God wanted them to go into a leper colony to share the Gospel. In order to live in the leper colony, they had to get leprosy so they could live and share the Gospel with those people.
We don't know much about that kind of mentality today.
We are worshiping at the altar of media heroes. We celebrate the famous pastors, the best-selling authors, the speakers with the biggest platforms. We assume they're the spiritual giants.
But heaven's economy works differently. The grandmother who prayed for her family every day for fifty years—she might be front row. The man who quietly served in the church kitchen for decades without recognition—reserved seat. The missionary in an obscure village who never wrote a book or had a podcast—VIP section.
"The ground is level at the cross." No one gets extra points for fame. No one earns a better seat through popularity.
God sees the hidden faithful. He knows the ones who served without applause, gave without recognition, sacrificed without anyone noticing.
Stop measuring spiritual success by visibility. The people you've never heard of may be the greatest heroes of the faith.
And that should free you. You don't need a platform. You don't need recognition. You just need faithfulness.
Serve Him. Love people. Stay hidden if that's where He has you. Heaven's front row might have your name on it.
