Knowing in Your Knower
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." — John 17:3
Do you know that you know?
There's a word in 1 John 5:13 that we need to understand. It's the word "know." It comes from the Greek word "ginosko." It describes intimate knowledge. You know in your knower that you know Him.
This isn't head knowledge. This isn't intellectual agreement. This is deep, personal, intimate knowledge—the kind of knowing that settles in your bones.
God wants you not only to know that the ability to believe Him comes from Him, but also He gives you that sense within your heart and your life that you belong to Him. Regardless of what you go through in the days to come, you are always His.
Many believers live with constant doubt. They wonder if they're really saved. They question whether God has really accepted them. Every time they sin, they panic—thinking maybe they've lost their salvation.
That's no way to live. God doesn't want you living in fear and uncertainty. He wants you to know that you know that you know Him.
In the conversion experience, God makes His residence in your heart, in your life, in your knower, and in your very being. When you know Him, suddenly you begin to have new desires. What you used to want is no longer important. You want to please Christ.
This inner witness is part of what it means to be saved. The Holy Spirit takes up residence in you and confirms to your spirit that you belong to God. "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children" (Romans 8:16).
You may not know or remember the exact day or the hour when you gave your life to Christ, but you will know in your knower that you know Him if you really know Him.
Do you have that? Not just facts about Jesus—but intimate, personal knowledge of Him? Not just belief that He exists—but deep assurance that you belong to Him?
If you have that knowing in your knower, rest in it. Stop doubting. Stop questioning. God has given you that assurance for a reason.
If you don't have it, seek Him today. Ask Him to make Himself known to you—not just in your head, but deep in your knower.
