Keep the Line Open

"pray continually," — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
 
How often do you talk to the people you love most?
 
I've been married a long time. And in all those years, I've learned that a good marriage isn't built on one scheduled conversation a day. It's built on a thousand small ones. A word in the kitchen. A comment in the car. A quick call in the middle of the afternoon just to say, "I was thinking about you."
 
That's what it means to pray continually.
 
A lot of people treat prayer like an appointment. Five minutes in the morning, maybe a blessing over dinner, and then they hang up until tomorrow. But Paul says to pray continually. Not constantly on your knees, but constantly connected. A running conversation with the Father that never really ends.
 
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6).
 
You can pray while you drive. You can pray while you wait in line. You can pray in the middle of a hard conversation, whispering, "Lord, give me the words." The line is always open. He is always listening.
 
Prayer isn't a formal ceremony reserved for Sunday. It's the ongoing dialogue of a relationship. It's talking to your best Friend about everything, all day long.
 
When was the last time you just talked to Him? Not a formal prayer. Not fancy words. Just an honest, running conversation.
 
Keep the line open. He never puts you on hold.
