Trust God for Justice
"Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord." — Romans 12:19
Are you trying to be the judge?
Paul had every reason to want justice. His own people, the Jews he had grown up with, had a contract out on his life. Wherever he went, a hit squad followed. They wanted him silenced, eliminated, erased from the scene.
But Paul didn't take justice into his own hands. He trusted God to sort it out.
That's harder than it sounds. When someone wrongs you, when opposition rises against you, when injustice stares you in the face, everything inside you wants to fix it, fight it, or force the outcome you think is right.
But you and I are not God. And thank the Lord for that.
"The Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him" (Isaiah 30:18).
Sometimes it's tough waiting for God's justice. We want to say, "Lord, if You love me, You would change that person or take them out." But God sees what we cannot see. He knows the timing we cannot know. And He is working in ways we cannot perceive.
What Paul understood, and what we need to learn, is that God will use even the opposition for something positive for His kingdom. The very people trying to destroy him became part of the story that would spread the gospel further than anyone imagined.
Lean back. Trust that in God's timing, in God's way, justice will come. Your job is to remain faithful. His job is to make things right.
Let Him do His job.
