Persevering
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Romans 5:3-5)
We have experienced moments when we have been impacted by mistakes. Either someone made a mistake that hurt us, or we hurt someone with a mistake we committed. Regardless of which role you play, there is one thing that both parties involved must have if healing and restoration are going to occur. That thing is perseverance.
If you are on the receiving end of the equation where you have been hurt by someone else, the worst thing you can do is give up. You can choose to forgive someone, but give up on the relationship. You can still harbor bitterness and frustration while distancing yourself from the person who hurt you. However, that doesn’t need to be the case. Instead, you can lean into the power of the Holy Spirit living inside of you and ask Him to help you keep going. Ask Him to give you the perseverance and the persistence to work on this broken relationship, and to fight for redemption and restoration.
On the flip side, if you are the one who has caused someone else pain, it is important that you hang in there. Don’t think you are too far gone to restore the relationship. Don’t believe the lie that God cannot redeem your situation. Instead, choose to persevere and begin working to earn back the trust you lost. This is no easy task, and it might take longer than you would like, but it will be worth it in the end.
Some of the best things in life take the most time; earning and giving trust are no exception. Trust isn’t built (or rebuilt) overnight; it needs a crockpot much more than it needs a microwave oven. No matter which situation you find yourself in, be patient and know that in time, trust can be re-established.

I will keep praying for the woman who keeps openly hurting others. That the relationships can be restored. Most of our congregation is older people and it is hard to find people to help with tasks needed in the church.
