Dead Men Feel Nothing
"As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins." — Ephesians 2:1
What does a dead man feel?
We are dead in our sins, the Bible says. What does a dead man feel? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing!
You can be part of a church. You can think that you have enough information, but the real issue is not whether you have gone through catechism or been confirmed. The issue is not that you have taken communion, been sprinkled or immersed, or have your name on the church roll.
The most important thing is—have you had an experience of grace, a moment in your life when you were born again?
Spiritual death is real. It's not a metaphor. It's not an exaggeration. Before Christ regenerates you, you are spiritually dead. You might be physically alive, mentally sharp, emotionally functional—but spiritually dead.
A dead person doesn't respond. A dead person can't improve. A dead person needs resurrection, not education.
This is why all your good efforts can't save you. This is why church attendance doesn't transform you. This is why religious activity doesn't make you right with God. You're spiritually dead. Dead people need life, not lessons.
Jesus explained to Nicodemus, a religious teacher, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again" (John 3:3). Jesus was referring to a transformational moment when you were born again—a spiritual transformation in your life.
Nicodemus was as religious as they come. He knew Scripture. He taught others. He lived a moral life. But Jesus told him, "You need to be born again." Why? Because religious activity doesn't bring spiritual life.
Only God can take a spiritually dead person and make them alive. Only the Holy Spirit can regenerate a dead heart. Only Christ can raise you from spiritual death to spiritual life.
Have you been born again? Not reformed. Not educated. Not improved. Born again. Made alive from death. Transformed from the inside out.
That's what it means to be saved. That's the experience of grace. That's conversion.
If you're still spiritually dead, no amount of religion will help you. You need resurrection. You need new life. You need Jesus.

As a lifelong catholic turned Presbyterian I finally learned what the Gospel and being born again mean.
nSadly, I don’t think 90%or more of Catholics are born again! One hour in a predictable service once a week is enough to be a good catholic and saved. Worst of all 90% think being a good person is what gets you into heaven. I feel the Catholic Church is doing a great disservice because its messaging is blurry. The Gospel is crystal clear that no good works qualify you for salvation only the faith in the blood of Jesus and his sacrifice
The Lord showed me His grace and I gave my heart and life to Jesus and He saved me. I thank Him that He is the Lord and Savior of my life and friend. I thank Him that He's with me every day.
I have people ask me how can you know you are born again. When I became born again I was so excited. I wanted others to know how thrilling it is to belong to Jesus. Maybe not everyone has that kind of experience but I don't understand how they can't.
Good words Pastor. Love the way you keep the main thing the main thing ! We are very lucky to have a leader who addresses the hard issues with truth and grace. God Bless You !
