Spiritual Alignment
on May 28th, 2026
Don't just come into church, watch a program, or read this devotional and say, “Well, that fixed me up today.” It is an everyday choice. In every moment, say, “God, I want my thinking to align with you. I want my life to align with you. I want my steps to align with you.” When you fall down and admit that your steps are going in the opposite direction, and you turn to Christ; things will change, and peace will come. That is what our world needs. Although you might not be able to change the world, you can change the direction where you are headed. That is a personal choice. Read More

Specific Confession
on May 27th, 2026
When I was in seminary, I took a course called Missionary Preparation. We had a guest speaker one day by the name of Bertha Smith. As a retired missionary, she still had fire in her bones.
I will never forget what she said in class that day. As she walked to the front of the classroom, she wrote on the board, “S I N.” She then asked a very important question, “Boys, are your sins confessed up to date?” I will never forget that question, “Boys, are your sins confessed up to date?” My first thought was, “Lord, I'm here. I'm studying your Word. I'm preparing myself for ministry.” However, her question was probing. “Are your sins confessed up to date?” Read More

Replacing God
on May 26th, 2026
One of the tragedies that we see in our nation every day is that we have forgotten the Lord and have replaced Him with our activity. Think about that for a moment. Many people want to do the activities of religion, rather than actually knowing the Lord intimately.
They would rather talk about Him than talk to Him. They would rather do things to serve Him than to bow before Him. It is like this: we are focused on the product of spiritual awakenings rather than being focused on the producer of spiritual awakenings. Read More

Sheep Don't Stay in the Mud
on May 25th, 2026
I learned a great lesson from one of our guys who was running sheep in West Texas. We were driving around and came to this huge pond that was half dried up. Near the shore in the dried-up mud, there was the carcass of a sheep that had died.
I asked, "What happened?" He said, "The sheep got down to drink some water, but the mud was so thick, and his legs were so skinny that they acted as spikes in the ground. The wet mud clumped all over his wool and he couldn't get out." Read More

Real Friends
on May 24th, 2026
If our world becomes unstable, we need the kind of friendship that is found in stability. With every one of us, there will be multiple times when the only solid tree to lean against (other than the Lord of All) is the one He planted many years ago in our life. A true friend does make it all the way through with us in our difficult, transitional seasons. Thank the Lord, if you have such a friend. Read More

Praying To Remind Yourself
on May 23rd, 2026
Prayer is an ongoing conversation with God. Praying without ceasing should be the default position for every believer as they live moment by moment. Many of our prayers are more self-reminders than news flashes for heaven. This prayer is the same. The psalmist is verbalizing in prayer a fresh commitment to the Lord to live a certain way. We could learn a great deal from him today, if we would simply implement the same kind of prayer. Read More

Be Still in a Scrolling World
on May 22nd, 2026
When was the last time you were truly still?
Many of us are so caught up in scrolling on our devices that we hear all the noise. It is time for you to be quiet and ask God what He wants of you. Ask Him to sense His presence and hear His voice on how to pray.
Think about your typical day. You wake up and immediately check your phone. Notifications. Emails. News. Social media. The noise starts before your feet hit the floor.
Throughout the day, every spare moment gets filled. Waiting in line? Scroll. Eating lunch? Scroll. Can't sleep? Scroll. Read More

Praise the Lord
on May 21st, 2026
Whether you are a morning person or an evening person does not matter. The words that come out of our mouths every day do matter. The psalmist is calling on himself to engage with praise and we should consider doing the very same thing ourselves every day. Notice the self-talk here and in other passages of Scripture. Surely, like the writer of this Psalm, you have talked to yourself at times. A man once said, “This is how I am assured of having an intelligent conversation.” If you need motivation, tell yourself to get up, get awake and get actively praising the Lord. Read More

It's All About Jesus
on May 20th, 2026
I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was 12 years old. The moment I turned from sin and placed my faith in Jesus Christ, I rode my bicycle home singing and praising God. Filled with joy, I made up words to a new song. (I wish I had written the words down because I thought they were pretty good at the time.) Read More

Jesus Saw the One
on May 19th, 2026
Do you see individuals or just crowds?
Do you remember the story about the woman who had been bleeding for twelve years? Jesus was walking through a crowd, and everyone was wanting to touch Him. He asked the question, "Who touched me?"
The disciples looked at Him and questioned Him. Everyone was touching Jesus! He said, "Power flowed out of me." Read More

They Came for the Bread
on May 18th, 2026
Why do people come to Jesus?
There was something about the ministry of Jesus. He didn't worry about drawing a crowd. Why did people come to Him? He was known as someone who met needs.
Sometimes, people came there for the show or another free lunch. God knows how to handle that.
This is an important truth for the church today. Not everyone who shows up has pure motives. Some people come because they want something—financial help, social connections, emotional support, free meals. Read More

What Compels You?
on May 17th, 2026
What moves you to serve?
The message that God gave you does not involve church, communion, baptism, church membership, service, or ministry. The very message that sends us out to make a difference in the lives of other people is the cross of Christ.
That is the motivation. Paul wrote that the love of Christ compels us.
Not guilt. Not obligation. Not pressure from others. Not trying to earn points with God. The love of Christ. Read More
