When God Nudges Your Heart
"Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts." — Hebrews 3:15
I need to change this worship service right now.
Have you ever had that moment? When you're in the middle of something planned, something organized, and God speaks to your heart? If there's a persistent tug on the inside, you need to respond immediately because this worship service belongs to Him. It doesn't belong to me. It doesn't belong to you. He has nudged my heart.
That's what happened one Sunday at Westside. I was ready to preach. The worship was done. It was time for the message. But I couldn't. God was speaking, and I had to listen.
In response to His leading, I invited the prayer team to come down front right then. I said, "I have a sense that I cannot preach until I invite you to pray. Some of you are going through something right now and you need someone to pray for you. God has already heard your request. I want to invite you to seek one of these prayer team members and let them pray for you."
Whether one comes or one hundred come down, I must do this. If God doesn't speak to the rest of you, please bow your head. Just pray for those people.
Here's what you need to understand: When God speaks, obedience matters more than schedules. When He nudges your heart, you respond immediately. Not later. Not when it's convenient. Not after you've thought about it.
Immediately.
Why? Because this worship service belongs to Him. Your life belongs to Him. The plans you've made belong to Him. And when He speaks, everything else adjusts.
How long has it been since you felt that tug? That persistent pull to do something, say something, pray for someone, reach out to someone? Did you respond? Or did you push it aside because it wasn't convenient?
God is speaking. Are you listening? And when you hear Him, will you obey immediately?
This worship service belongs to Him. So does this moment. So does your life.
