Faith Beyond Your Family
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." – Genesis 50:20
Many of us came to faith in Christ because of our family of origin. Others of us came to faith in spite of our family of origin. Regardless, your family can create unbelievable pain in your life. Your interaction with your siblings, your father, or your mother can create problems.
Regardless of how you were raised, the dynamics of your family of origin have affected your faith life. You may have been given a head start in your faith because you were raised in a Christian home, or you may have felt you were starting at a disadvantage because of the way your family raised you.
Either way, wherever you are on your journey, I encourage you to keep walking in faith. Even if you got off to a rocky start, God has given you a chance to respond to Him. You are where you are because God is at work in your life, regardless of what kind of family dynamic you inherited.
Just as Joseph experienced deep family wounds yet trusted God’s redemptive work, you too can let God use every piece of your story—good and bad—for His glory. Trust that He can rewrite your path and transform the pain into purpose. Keep walking in faith, knowing that God is working all things together for your good and His glory.
