God’s Plan Needs You
"On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts." — 1 Thessalonians 2:4
Do you ever wonder if you're qualified enough to be used by God?
Maybe you're thinking, "I'm not ordained." Or "I haven't gone to seminary or Bible college." So you sit on the sidelines, believing that real ministry is for the professionals—the pastors, the trained theologians, the people with credentials after their names.
But here's what you need to hear: God has a plan for your life, and He doesn't need your resume.
Paul says we are "approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel." Not approved by institutions. Not approved by human standards. Approved by God. The Holy Spirit will accomplish everything that He needs to accomplish through your life. You are very important to God.
God knows your past, present, and future. He knows how to put you in the right place at the right time to accomplish His plan through your life. Do not think you are insignificant to the Kingdom of God.
I grew up learning to ride horses on my grandfather's ranch in Arkansas. They put me on a saddle when I was three years old—my legs were so short they had to use the leather lashings as my stirrups. I worked with cattle, sheep, and large animals all through my youth.
Years later, God sent me to my first pastorate in Eden, Texas—population 1,200. A ranching community. What did God have me do? I didn't sit in an office. I got into pickup trucks with ranchers and cowboys. We worked cattle together. I shared the Gospel out on the ranch because I was comfortable in that setting.
Nothing in your life is random. God is preparing you right now for the ministry He has planned for you. Your experiences, your skills, your passions—He's weaving them all together for His purposes.
You are key to His plan. If you're still breathing, God isn't through with you yet.
