Say It Out Loud
"Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him." — Job 13:15
Have you expressed your trust in God lately—out loud?
You know the story of Job. Blessed by God with a great family, great fortune, great security. Then he lost his children. Lost his wealth. Lost his health. And his wife came to him with these encouraging words: "Curse God and die."
That was his spouse.
Job's response to his condemning friends and his bitter wife? "Though he slay me, yet will I trust him."
Here's what I've learned: Sometimes expressing your trust in God is more for you than it is for others. Though it does impact others when they hear you verbalize your faith in the middle of a detour or difficult circumstance.
There's something powerful about saying it out loud.
"God, I don't understand this, but I trust You." "Lord, this hurts, but I believe You have a plan." "Father, I can't see the way forward, but I know You can."
Words shape belief. What you speak reinforces what you think. When you verbalize trust, you strengthen trust.
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:23).
Don't just think your trust. Speak it. Declare it. In your car. In your prayer closet. To your friends. To your family.
Express your trust in God—especially when circumstances scream at you to doubt.
Say it out loud: "Yet will I trust Him."
