God Doesn't Change His Mind
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." — Hebrews 13:8
Does God's will evolve with culture?
I had a conversation years ago with a reformed Jewish rabbi. He asked me what we believed about morality and homosexuality. I said, "We believe in the Word of God. We believe that Romans Chapter 1 describes that homosexuality is an abomination." I began to quote several Old Testament passages, especially from the Book of Leviticus. I said to him, "We actually believe what the Old Testament and the New Testament teach."
I asked him, "What do you believe?" He said, "We believe that God's will is constantly evolving." I said, "Really?" He said, "That was way back then." I said, "Yes, it was, but it is still applicable today. That is where we stand."
This is the critical issue facing the church today. Do we believe Scripture is unchanging truth, or do we adjust it to fit the culture?
Many churches are caving to cultural pressure. They're redefining marriage. They're softening their stance on sexuality. They're avoiding topics that might offend. Why? Because they believe God's will evolves with the times.
But here's what you need to understand: God does not change. His Word does not evolve. What was true 3,000 years ago is still true today. What was sin in Moses' day is still sin in our day.
Culture changes. Opinions shift. Laws get rewritten. But God's Word stands forever. "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever" (Isaiah 40:8).
When you're facing pressure to compromise—whether it's at work, in your family, or even in your church—ask yourself this question: "What does the Word of God teach?"
Not "What does culture say?" Not "What makes people comfortable?" Not "What keeps me popular?" What does Scripture actually say?
That's your anchor. That's your foundation. God's Word doesn't evolve. It doesn't need updating. It doesn't require cultural revision.
Stand on it. Even when it's unpopular. Even when it costs you. God's truth is unchanging, and that's exactly what this shaky world needs.
