Have you ever felt like you couldn't measure up?
Early on when I became pastor of this church, my wife started taking a turn physically. I remember going to a deacons meeting because I had a presupposition that every time the doors opened on Sunday morning, the pastor's wife needed to be seen seated next to the pastor.
I said, "Guys, I've gotta tell you—my wife is struggling physically. We're praying God will heal her, but if He chooses to withhold that healing, we're going to walk with Him regardless. But if your mentality is that you need a pastor and his wife visible all the time, then maybe I'm not your guy. I am committed to her before I'm committed to you." Read More

Staying In Love With Jesus

One of the best takeaways we can learn from the church at Philadelphia in Revelation chapter 3 is that we must stay focused on Christ no matter what tough circumstances come our way.
This was a church that apparently endured opposition from the outside, but stayed focused on the Word; they did not deny the name of Jesus. The key to staying on target is staying in love with Christ. Read More

Showing Commitment To Christ

Baptism is to show that you are committed to Christ. When someone is baptized, it says, “I am committed publicly to Jesus. I am committed publicly to you who are part of the body of Christ. I am committed to living in righteousness.” It’s one thing to make that commitment privately, but when you make a public commitment there’s much more accountability that comes along with it, which is exactly what the Lord wants for us.
