Align with God Through Prayer
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)
This Psalm reminds us that when we delight ourselves in the Lord, He graciously grants the desires of our hearts. However, this verse holds a deeper truth about the power of prayer in shaping our desires to align with God's will.
As many people have said, “Prayer is not so much trying to change the mind of God, but rather to align us with the mind of God.” When we pray with a heart of delight in the Lord, our focus shifts from solely seeking personal fulfillment to desiring what pleases Him. As we draw near to God in prayer, spending time in His presence and meditating on His Word, our hearts begin to align with His heart. Our desires are refined and purified as we learn to prioritize His Kingdom and seek His purposes above our own.
We need to realize that God has a plan for us. He wants us to be prayerful. Do you know why? It is so we can hear His mind. When I stopped trying to figure out what God had for me and what He wanted me to be, God changed my “want to’s.” That came from spending more time with Him, praying, and reading the Word of God.
The number one thing that most people ask is, “What is the will of God for my life?” The will of God for your life is to spend time with Him so you can hear from Him. He will show you the next steps in your life. God wants us to be prayerful. If you are not prayerful, you will miss out on what God has for you. Be prayerful and be immersed in God’s Word!
