The Judge of All Judges
These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. (Revelation 2:18-20)
In this passage, Jesus is describing Himself as “One who sees all and has the authority to judge.” The flaming eyes stand for anger against sin. Jesus’ penetrating eyes can see into a man's heart. His brazen feet are burnished bronze; they stand for the inflexible, immovable strength and power of Christ.
Jesus does not practice a doctrine of toleration concerning certain things. Today, if you are a tolerant person, you will be applauded by the in-crowd. However, this description of Jesus does not describe tolerance. He is the judge! Embrace that.
As His followers, we are to acknowledge Him and realize that He is not only the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, but He is the Judge of all Judges!
You might say, “It is not right to judge.” However, it is okay for Jesus to judge. Meanwhile, we should be busy judging ourselves to see if we are lining up with the behavior, attitude, and thinking that aligns with Him.
