Hope Through God
Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:22)
It has been said, “A person can live a few days without water, a few minutes without air, but not a moment without hope.” Beyond the circumstances, crises and burdens of life, some people believe there is something better just ahead. Hope is something nearly everyone relies on to push them through the day, the week, and beyond.
Where do we get hope? Is hope connected to something? Does receiving hope depend upon another person?
As His followers, God tells us that our hope is in Him. We believe God is Who He says He is, and that His Word is true. In that belief, we solidly know that God is true and just. God never changes. His decisions are always sure, and His mind is always set in the same course. If that were not true, we would not trust in His words or deeds. Because God is constant and consistent, we can trust that His path will lead us toward Him and heaven. Thanks be to God that He is unchanging, unwavering, constant and true!
If we place our hope in anything else, it won’t deliver. We will always be disappointed when we tie our hope to anything or anyone else on this earth. We can always put our hope in the Lord, and He can carry the weight with ease.
We can long for the future that He has promised, and know that our hope is not misplaced. Hope, real hope, does not result in blind wishes. Real hope, the kind that God gives, leaves us confident in our future. Hope through God gives us the ability to take risks for Him in our lives, resting on His promise of a future that is secure.
