Immeasurably More
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
God is not a god of mediocrity or a god of solely meeting our expectations. Instead, He is a God who is more than capable of exceeding expectations. Let’s look once again at the thief on the cross next to Jesus. After he rebuked the other criminal on the cross for mocking Jesus, the thief looked at Jesus and said, “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.” (Luke 23:42) He didn’t ask Jesus to save him or go to heaven. He just asked the Lord to remember him.
What did Jesus do? He did more than the thief ever expected or asked. Jesus responded and said, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43) This is such a beautiful picture of how the Lord desires to work in our lives.
When I gave my life to Christ at 12 years of age, I did not know what He had in store for me. I had no clue what He would do in my life and through my life, in spite of me. He knew all along; and I can say now, many years later, that God has given me more than I ever asked or imagined.
God wants to do immeasurably more in your life, as well. He wants to give you the kind of life and the quality of life only He can produce. If you will seek Him and stay focused on Him, I can promise that He will do amazing things in and through you. He will carry out things you can’t even imagine! I pray that you will cling to that promise in Ephesians 3:20; and ask your Heavenly Father to go above and beyond anything you can imagine, as you continue to walk with Him.
