Set A Fire In My Soul
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)
There is an old hymn that always encourages me when my faith feels dim and the flame in my soul isn’t burning as brightly as it usually does. Because we go through ups and downs in our faith, it is important that we look to the reminders we have in God’s Word. Hymns which are based on Scripture (like the one below) help us remember the promises of Jesus; and those promises will reignite our faith.
Set my soul afire, Lord, for Thy holy Word, Burn it deep within me, let your voice be heard; Millions grope in darkness, in this day and hour, I will be Your witness, fill me with Thy pow’r.
Set my soul afire, Lord, set my soul afire, Make my life a witness of Thy saving pow’r. Millions grope in darkness, waiting for Thy Word, Set my soul afire, Lord, Set my soul afire.
Set my soul afire, Lord, for the lost in sin, Give to me a passion as I seek to win; Help me not to falter, never let me fail, Fill me with Thy Spirit, let Thy will prevail.
Set my soul afire, Lord, set my soul afire, Make my life a witness of Thy saving pow’r. Millions grope in darkness, waiting for Thy Word, Set my soul afire, Lord, Set my soul afire.
Set my soul afire, Lord, in my daily life, Far too long I’ve wondered in this day of strife; Nothing else will matter but to live for Thee. I will be Your witness as You live in me.
Set my soul afire, Lord, set my soul afire, Make my life a witness of Thy saving pow’r. Millions grope in darkness, waiting for Thy Word, Set my soul afire, Lord, Set my soul afire.
This should not just be a song that we remember or sing; it should be the prayer of our hearts right now. Wherever you are, if the fire has gone out or the flame is just flickering, reignite your holy fire right now! This is the time for Christians to be on fire for Christ. This should be your prayer, desire, and song.

I like that song too. I am in a church that sings song from a hymnal. I miss the music that Westside plays, yet the hymns still give inspiration. May the Lord set my soul on fire today!
Yes! Set my soul a fire for You, Lord Jesus in your name and for your glory and namesake. Amen. ðŸ™
