Joy In The Midst Of Problems
So there was great joy in that city. – Acts 8:8
Though persecution scattered the early church, the result was that many more people heard the gospel and experienced the joy of salvation. Joy in suffering is one of the greatest testimonies of our faith. Even in hardship, God is at work for our good and His glory.
Many people think Christianity is all about being righteous, holy, sober, and not very happy. They think if you are really a follower of Jesus, you will look like you have been weaned on buttermilk and sour pickles. That is what holiness is all about. There is a frown on someone's brow all the time. It is just the opposite! God wants us to experience His joy all the time.
Sometimes, joy is more seen in the middle of problems than in times of happiness. It speaks louder and it speaks volumes. It validates the presence of Jesus in your life when you find joy in the middle of your problems.
When God gives you joy in the middle of your problems, it draws people to you. God can use you through your joy because He can show others how joy is still possible in the midst of hardship. When God allows you to go through difficult problems, it may be because He has a plan to use you like He has never used you before.
