Who Is Jesus?
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 16:13-17)
We must understand that the resurrection invites the greatest question Jesus ever asked: “Who do you say I am?”
During Jesus’ time on earth, He asked His disciples this question, and Simon Peter got the answer right. He said, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.” We must have the same view of Jesus if we want to embrace the resurrection for what it is.
Regardless of where you are, God is looking at you, and He is looking at me; and He is asking this question, “What about you? Who do you say I am?”
How would you answer that question? Who would you say Jesus is? How would you describe Him?
I pray that you will take the time today to answer these questions in light of the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As you do, ask the Lord to grant you wisdom as you strive to understand the impact of the resurrection, and to share that impact with those around you.
