Conversion and Conversation
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
There are two things that need to be true of your life in order to truly know the Lord.
The first is that you must have a real conversion experience. You need to have a life-changing, life-altering spiritual experience where you acknowledge you are a sinner and that you need Christ. This is a moment you should be able to point to and say, “That was the moment I turned from my sin and began to follow Jesus.” It is the moment when you invited Christ to take total charge, to forgive you of your sins, and to fully reign over every aspect of your life. At this moment, you are born again, and you begin to know Him personally.
The second is that there must be a real conversation. If you are following Jesus, you must have a consistent conversation between Him and you. To be a real conversation, you need to both actively listen to the Lord and speak to Him. God does an amazing amount of work in us and through us when we pray. When we see Him working and moving, we come to know Him better.
Are these two things true of your spiritual walk? Can you point to a real conversion experience? Do you have a real two-way conversation with the Lord on a consistent basis? If so, I pray that God would continue to bless you and grant you wisdom and growth as you follow Him. If you can’t identify with the above statements, I pray that you would immediately get right with God.
Make this moment the time for your conversion experience. Surrender your life to Christ and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. If you have already been born again, but haven’t been conversing with Him, ask the Lord to give you a renewed desire for Him. Begin making prayer a part of your daily routine, and get excited for all that God will do in and through you as you seek to know Him better.
