God Uses Our Waiting
“As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her.” (Genesis 17:15-16)
Are you waiting for something right now? Are you waiting for a small item, or something big, like a spouse, or a child or a grandchild?
No matter what you are expecting, waiting is never easy. We are impatient creatures who want what we want, when we want it. Can I encourage you? Patience is a fruit of the spirit we have as followers of Jesus. We can definitely work on becoming more patient, because we are always expecting something. If we look at waiting as a way to develop our patience, we can see waiting in a better light. Waiting is a tool God uses to make us more like Himself.
Abram and Sarai were waiting to have a son. Because they had to wait so long, normal human circumstances should have prevented them from conceiving a son in their old age. At one point, Abram even questioned God’s ability to give them a son because he thought too much time had passed. Abram and Sarai eventually learned, after a very long waiting period, that nothing is impossible with God.
God finally gave them a son when Abram was 100 years old! Because of the extended waiting period, God was able to teach Abram and Sarai some valuable lessons. He expanded and matured their faith. He showed them grace despite their mistakes, and He proved, once again, that He was a trustworthy God. He could not have accomplished all of those things if He had given Abram and Sarai a child immediately, without making them wait.
Do you have a desire that you are waiting on God to fulfill? Have you been praying for something for many years and God has still not answered you? Whether you are like Sarai and praying for God to give you a child, or you are struggling with waiting for some other blessing or guidance from the Lord, He is worth the wait. He will not let you down. He will come through in His own way and in His own time. In addition, you may never know what God might accomplish in your life while you wait.

I am waiting for my 48 year old son to accept Jesus as his Savior. I am waiting for my older son to overcome alcoholism. I am also waiting for answers to other situations also
All good things come to those who wait for the Lord. I pray that God draws your sons to Him through you and that all your situations find truth and provide hope and faith for you.
