A Holy Plan to Follow
“Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love.” - Hosea 10:12
If we are going to live a holy life, we need a holy plan to follow. First, we must make a personal commitment to live holy. Hosea says, “Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love.” Proverbs 20:7 says, “The righteous lead blameless lives.” God will not force us to make holy choices. We are not robots. He has given us free will to choose to do right or to do wrong.
Second, we must refuse to put ourselves in compromising situations. Sometimes we’re in the wrong place at the wrong time. Scripture tells us, “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘Did God really say…?’” (Genesis 3:1). The problem was that Eve was hanging around the tree, and so was Adam. Why were they there? Many of us put ourselves in places where we struggle. But we need to be mindful of where we position ourselves if we want to live holy lives.
We need to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). The greatest battleground is our mind. We juggle thoughts, trying to figure out how to get what we want without paying the consequences. But God wants us to choose the right steps.
Third, we must choose friends who encourage our convictions. Psalm 101:4 says, “The perverse of heart shall be far from me.” Psalm 141:5 says, “Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness.” We need godly friends to point us to Jesus, encourage us, love us, and hold us accountable to living holy.
These things help, but most importantly, we must maintain an intimate walk with Christ. That’s where the true power of holiness comes from.
Have you implemented all of these things into a holy plan for your life? If not, I pray that today would be the day you start creating and living by a holy plan so that you can begin pursuing holiness in every area of your life.
