Aligning With God’s Word
Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. (Revelation 2:14-16)
In today’s key passage we see a picture of Jesus calling His children to do what is right and to stand for what is right. Do not compromise what the Word of God says, for even one moment in time! Even though you may wrestle with what the Word of God says, you choose to stand on God’s Word.
There are times when I read things in the Word of God and I say, “Lord, that's hard, that's tough.” I either have to say to myself, “Don't think about it,” or “think about it and stay aligned with the Word of God.” When you live in a culture (whether it's politically charged or not) that wants you to go with the desires of your flesh, it is a real battle. Even though it is a compromising culture, God wants His children to stand on the Word of God.
Bob Dylan, once wrote a song, “You may serve the Lord or you may serve the devil, but everybody is gonna serve somebody.” Decide whose side you are on!
What do you believe? What are your biblical values? Where will you stand? Where is the line in the sand? Don't live a compromised life, decide to stand on the Word of God.
Sometimes, it is very difficult when you have friends or family who have taken another side that does not align with the Word of God. Either you will water down what you believe in order to maintain the relationship, or you will say, “I love you. I accept you for what you believe, but I don't think what you believe aligns with the Word of God.” You don't have to be mean and nasty. You don't have to be arrogant or prideful when you do so, but you need to decide what you believe and stand on the Word of God.
