Between You And God
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
Something we all need to understand as believers is that that your relationship with God is between you and Him.
Jesus said it very clearly in this Scripture that your relationship with God is not between you and a pastor, or between you and a priest. There is no representative of God, like you and your mother, or you and your father. It is between you and God. This is what the Scripture says,
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
Your relationship with the Father is only through Jesus Christ. He is the one mediator. He is the one who makes peace between you and the Father. He is the one and only who shed His blood for your sins and covered your sins. He is the only one who rose from the dead. He was the first fruit of the new life.
We need to realize that our relationship between God and us is very personal. Specifically, you are responsible for how you respond to God. Don't blame your parents for where you are right now. Many people love to blame their parents for their present state. They probably did the best they could to raise you. You cannot live your life making excuses for where you are today, based upon what someone did to you, how they treated you, or how they spoke to you.
God wants you to realize that you stand before Him. Anything you will do in the days to come needs to come through that relationship with Jesus. He is the one you confess your sins to, not the pastor. You don't need to confess your sins to a preacher; you need to have a conversation with Jesus. He is the one who brings grace. He is the one who is truth. He is the one who is the way. He is the one in whom there is life. And your parents cannot take that gap and fill it; nor can anyone else.
It's like that old Gospel song that says simply, “It's not my brother, not my sister, but it's me, Oh, Lord, standing in the need of prayer.” You need to be responsible for your spiritual life, what you believe, how you live, and how you serve.
